Peer Reading: Celebrating Six Successful Sessions

09/03/2026 Top News

Our Peer Reading journey with Hipswell Primary has concluded as we celebrate six successful sessions of mentorship, literacy, and the growing 'reading buzz' at Risedale.

This afternoon, the library was filled with both cheers and a little bit of sadness as we held our sixth and final Peer Reading session with Hipswell Church of England Primary School.

Across these six sessions, our KS3 Reading Ambassadors and Year 5 pupils have journeyed through countless stories together, but today was all about celebrating how much they have grown as a Family of Learners.

It has been an absolute privilege to watch our pupils consistently give their BEST:

  • RELATIONSHIPS: What started as shy introductions has turned into genuine bonds and a supportive community.
  • RESPECT & RESPONSIBILITY: Our Ambassadors have been incredible role models, leading their sessions with kindness, patience, and maturity.
  • RESILIENCE: From mastering tricky vocabulary to exploring complex themes, the progress in confidence has been remarkable.

While these sessions have now come to an end, we do hope that the skills and friendships gained will stay with our pupils!

Calling all Primary Schools!

Following the fantastic success of this partnership, we are looking forward to welcoming more primary schools to the Risedale Library for future Peer Reading sessions.

If your school would like to take part in this inspiring opportunity, please get in touch with our School Librarian, Miss Sellers, at sellers.j@risedale.org.uk.
