Peer Reading with Hipswell Primary: Week 4

23/02/2026 Top News

Our Risedale Family continues to flourish as Session 4 saw pupils building strong relationships and supporting each other to be their BEST versions through a shared love of reading.

The library was a hive of activity on Monday, 23rd February, as we welcomed Hipswell Church of England Primary School back for their 4th Peer Reading session!

As we move into the second half of our 6-week journey, it is truly inspiring to see how our Risedale Family of Learners is growing. Our KS3 Reading Ambassadors were in full swing, helping their Year 5 partners explore new vocabulary and dive deeper into their stories with great enthusiasm.

This programme is a fantastic showcase of our pupils being the BEST versions of themselves by living our school values every week:

  • RESPONSIBILITY: Our Ambassadors took the lead, guiding their partners through tricky words and helping them find meaning in every page.
  • RESPECT: The mutual kindness between the year groups created a supportive and encouraging environment for everyone.
  • RESILIENCE: It was wonderful to see the pupils’ determination to help one another, showing great patience and focus while exploring new vocabulary and themes together.
  • RELATIONSHIPS: Above all, it’s about the bonds being built. Our pupils aren't just reading together; they are supporting and inspiring one another.

Only two weeks left, but the reading buzz shows no signs of slowing down!
