Year 9 pupils demonstrate technical skill and creative flair as they design and manufacture custom LED USB lamps with Mrs Vizor.
The Design and Technology workshop has been a hive of activity as our Year 9 pupils in Mrs Vizor's class work on their bespoke LED lamps. The project involved a detailed process where pupils used computer software, 2D Design, to draw their own unique patterns, which were then cut out using the laser cutter to produce interlocking MDF panels. To finish their creations, they applied fabric to the interior to beautifully diffuse the light.
This project served as a brilliant showcase of our core values in action. Our pupils took great RESPONSIBILITY for the assembly of their lamps and the construction of their own USB circuits. Throughout the manufacturing process, they showed immense RESPECT for the materials and specialist equipment provided.
When it came to the technical testing phase, their RESILIENCE was key to ensuring each finished product functioned perfectly. Throughout the lessons, the class worked as a true "Family of Learners," building positive RELATIONSHIPS by supporting one another through the creation and manufacturing stages.
Mrs Vizor has been incredibly proud of the group’s dedication, noting:
"The pupils have really given their BEST in these lessons. It is wonderful to see them take their designs from the computer screen and turn them into high-quality, finished products that they can be proud of."
Well done, Year 9!
