Year 10 Work Experience 2026

01/05/2026

Our Year 10 pupils are making a massive impression in the world of work this week, with glowing feedback from local employers!

Our Year 10 pupils have been trading the classroom for the workplace this week, and the feedback from their placements has been incredible! It has been a huge team effort across the school, and many members of staff have been out on the road visiting pupils to see them thriving in the world of work.

Our Year 10 Pupil Support Manager, Mrs Niblett, had this to say:
"As their Head of Year, it has been one of the most rewarding elements of my role so far to visit our pupils on their placements. Seeing them apply themselves so professionally in a new environment and hearing such high praise from employers makes me beyond proud. I was truly beaming with pride seeing their work ethic in action."

Work Experience Highlights

๐Ÿ“ Olivia Hodkinson at Mini Explorers Nursery:

Olivia has been a natural in her placement, caring for pre-school children and supporting their outdoor learning. The managers praised her positivity and hard work—and it’s clear the children have loved having her as part of the team!

On Facebook, Mini Explorers Nursery said:

"It was a pleasure having Olivia complete her work experience with us, and we hope to welcome her back again in the future. x"

๐Ÿ“ Tyler Harker at Align:

Tyler has hit the ground running at Align, where he has been busy working on specific architectural designs. The company has been highly impressed by how quickly he has mastered their systems and the quality of his designs.

Looking Ahead...

Both Olivia and Tyler have the opportunity to apply for apprenticeships in the future with these companies if they so wish. It’s wonderful to see our pupils opening doors for their future careers through their own dedication.

A Special Thank You

Finally, a massive shout-out must go to our Careers Coordinator and Pupil Support Manager, Mrs Porritt. Organising work experience for an entire year group alongside our Alternative Provision Programme is a monumental task. Mrs Porritt has dedicated an incredible amount of time to ensuring our pupils have these life-changing opportunities.

Reflecting on the week, Mrs Porritt said:

"At this time of year, I really look forward to engaging with Year 10 on their careers journey. It is lovely to see the pupils out on work placement blossoming into young adults by being their BEST."

The success of this week is a testament to her hard work and the brilliant support of our community partners. Well done to all our Year 10s and a big thank you to all the staff out on the road supporting them!
