Future scientists from Cambrai Primary School joined Mr Higham and #TeamRisedale for a vibrant, hands-on Chemistry workshop to celebrate British Science Week!

Year 5 pupils from Cambrai Primary School visited Risedale on Monday, 9th March, to take part in a Science workshop during British Science Week.

While at Risedale, the Cambrai pupils carried out a practical experiment called ‘Red Cabbage Indicator,’ which is used to test the pH levels of different substances. They tested various household products, including toothpaste, cleaning paste, and vinegar.

The lesson was led by Science Teacher Mr Higham, with support from our fantastic Technician, Mrs Newall and Risedale star pupil Amber Aitken (7Reid).

Mr Higham said: “I was absolutely amazed at the behaviour and level of knowledge from the Year 5 pupils.  They conducted the experiment perfectly and achieved some fantastic results. The future definitely looks bright for our young scientists, especially with pupils so engaged with their learning.  Thank you so much for being amazing!! You made my day!”

On Facebook, Cambrai Primary School said, “Thank you, Risedale School and your fabulous science department for our Chemistry workshop to celebrate National Science Week! The children LOVED this experience, and they were highly praised by staff for both their superb knowledge and behaviour.”
