Meet our Safeguarding Team at Risedale, welcoming new members Mrs Moore and Mrs Rodway alongside experienced leads Miss Burke and Lisa Smith to ensure every pupil feels safe, supported, and ready to thrive!
At Risedale, pupil safety, protection, and wellbeing are always our top priorities. We are delighted to introduce our Safeguarding Team and extend a warm welcome to our newest members, Mrs Moore and Mrs Rodway, who joined Risedale in September. Together with our experienced Deputy Safeguarding Leads, Miss Burke and Lisa Smith, our team is dedicated to supporting our pupils and ensuring a safe, happy, and caring environment for everyone.
Meet the Safeguarding Team
Mrs Moore
Senior Safeguarding Lead / Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Mrs Moore joined Risedale after relocating to the area. Her most recent role was as Deputy DSL and Pastoral Head of Year at a large high school in Leeds, where she served for five years. Prior to this, Mrs Moore spent over 20 years working in children’s social care in Bradford. Her extensive experience includes supporting families in crisis within child protection, as well as guiding young people towards independence and helping them make positive contributions to society.
Mrs Rodway
Safeguarding Support Officer / Deputy DSL
Mrs Rodway joined Risedale following a distinguished 24-year military career in the Royal Signals. Her service spanned the UK, Northern Ireland, Kenya, Iraq, and Afghanistan, alongside exercises across the globe. While in the Army, Kerry was posted to the Royal Signals School of Signals, an Ofsted-inspected training establishment, where she gained extensive safeguarding experience working directly with 16-year-olds.
Miss Burke
Senior Teacher / SENCo / Deputy DSL
Miss Burke has been an integral part of the Risedale Family since 2014. As SENCo and Senior Teacher, Miss Burke leads our dedicated SEND department, ensuring that our core family ethos nurtures the potential of every child. She works alongside a skilled team to provide tailored support so that all pupils, regardless of their needs, can thrive, feel included, and reach their personal BEST.
Lisa Smith
School Counsellor / Deputy DSL
Lisa Smith is our School Counsellor and the Senior Mental Health Lead at Risedale School. Joining us in 2021, she works directly with pupils, offering 1:1 counselling sessions and providing early help for any mental health issues. Lisa also provides support for our staff, as everyone's wellbeing is important at Risedale — a happy school is a successful school!
๐ Where to Find Us
The Safeguarding Office is located between Mrs Lumsdon’s Office and the Reflection Room (Rm 7).
