On Sunday 28th June, Year 9 pupils Olivia and Rosie hosted a highly successful Charity Afternoon Tea at Colburn Village Hall, raising vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support as part of their Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award.
The dedicated 14-year-old duo managed the entire event from start to finish. They baked a delicious spread of sandwiches, cakes, and scones, beautifully decorated the venue, and ran a fundraising raffle, all while working tirelessly to look after their guests. ๐ซ๐ง
A Visit from the Mayor
The event even welcomed a very special VIP guest: the newly elected Mayor of Colburn Town Council, Cllr Paul Anthony Towers.
Cllr Towers was full of praise for the pupils' hard work, sharing on social media:
"The girls did a fantastic job; the sandwiches, cakes, and scones were delicious... Not an easy event to put on, and they are only 14! Massive well done to you both."
Olivia and Rosie demonstrated immense dedication and maturity, representing Risedale School brilliantly. A massive well done to both pupils!
