Our Year 10 service pupils spent an inspiring morning with York St John University, transforming their unique life experiences into professional strengths through the Beyond the Barracks Project.
On Thursday, 14th May, we were delighted to welcome back Abbie and Sophie from York St John University! They spent an inspiring morning with our Year 10 pupils as part of the Beyond the Barracks Project.
This initiative is all about empowering our pupils to navigate their post-16 journeys with confidence. The day was packed with high-value takeaways:
- Financial Support & Planning: A deep dive into the specific support available for service pupils and their families, including bursaries, scholarships, and student finance.
- Exploring Transferable Skills: In our CV writing workshop, pupils learned how to translate the unique resilience, adaptability, and strengths gained from life as a service child into stand-out professional skills.
What’s next?
As we move toward Armed Forces Day, we are excited to welcome Abbie and Sophie back to Risedale! They’ll be leading a special creative session, helping our pupils explore and celebrate the unique benefits of service life.
