Risedale pupil Charlotte Swift (Year 11) has been shortlisted as one of only three candidates to represent North Yorkshire Central in the upcoming UK Youth Parliament elections.
We are incredibly proud to announce that Charlotte Swift (11Bennett) has been selected as a candidate for the North Yorkshire Central UK Youth Parliament (UKYP). Charlotte is one of only three candidates from across the region standing for this prestigious role.
The UK Youth Parliament provides young people aged 11–18 with a national platform to influence change. Elected Members of Youth Parliament (MYPs) meet with government officials and debate key issues in the House of Commons, ensuring the voices of their peers are heard at the highest levels of democracy.
The Voting Process
At Risedale School, we will be casting our votes on Thursday, 5th March. To ensure the election is fair and focused on policy, all candidate manifestos are presented anonymously. This encourages our pupils to vote for the ideas, plans, and promises that resonate most with their own views and the issues they care about.
Your Voice Matters
We encourage all pupils to listen closely to the manifestos and exercise their democratic right. This is an opportunity to choose a representative who will be a strong, effective voice for the youth of North Yorkshire.
We wish Charlotte the very best of luck in the election. Regardless of the outcome, being shortlisted as one of only three regional candidates is a significant achievement and a testament to her hard work and leadership.
