To celebrate Armed Forces Day this month, every pupil at Risedale School enjoyed a free treat today thanks to a special visit from the BFBS Operation Ice Cream van, organised by Service Pupil Manager Dr Ellis.
The school grounds were filled with smiles today as the famous British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) Operation Ice Cream van made a special visit to Risedale School.
The event was organised by Dr Ellis, Risedale's Service Pupil Manager, to celebrate Armed Forces Day this month. Because the service community is such a vital and cherished part of Risedale School, Dr Ellis and the school ensured that no one was left out, with every single pupil receiving a delicious ice cream completely free of charge.
The BFBS Operation Ice Cream van, which travels across the country to support military communities, proved to be an absolute hit as pupils and staff alike thoroughly enjoyed the sunshine and the surprise treat.
Dr Ellis, Risedale's Service Pupil Manager, said: "Our service community is such an important part of Risedale School, so we wanted to make sure everyone was included. It has been wonderful to see the whole school come together today, and I am absolutely delighted that every single pupil was able to enjoy a free ice cream to celebrate Armed Forces Day this month.”
