Crufts 2020 success for Risedale student Eryn

Congratulations Eryn and Laci!

08/02/2021

Risedale student Eryn Williams placed third in the Young Kennel Club's gundog 12 to 17 years class handling Laci, her seven-year-old golden retriever. She competed against eight skilled handlers.

Eryn, 14, said: "To attend and compete at Crufts is a nerve-wracking but fun experience. Laci is a great dog to work with, she knows what I need from her and she has helped me gain so much confidence in my handling and myself. "

Mum Mhairi added: "Eryn works hard throughout the year to qualify for Crufts. She takes everything in her stride. Golden retrievers are a numerically high breed so placings can be rare at a championship level. Eryn enjoys showing and is known within the breed; she is often asked at shows to help other exhibitors and to handle other breeds. Eryn has already qualified for YKC Handling at Crufts 2021 so will be focusing on training her new addition ready to begin campaigning her in the summer."

Jaime Westwood, Eryn's form tutor and Head of Art at Risedale, said: "We expected nothing less and are all incredibly proud of Eryn and her achievements. We wish Eryn all the best for Crufts 2021. What a star!⭐"
