Risedale pupils have been mastering "Smart Tech" and AI, taking part in hands-on activities to build the critical thinking skills needed for a safe and positive digital future.
On Tuesday, 10th February, pupils across Risedale School took an active lead in Safer Internet Day 2026, joining millions across the UK to explore this year’s theme: "Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI."
Pupils didn't just listen, they got hands-on with interactive activities designed to deconstruct the world of Artificial Intelligence. Under the guidance of Head of Computing Mrs Rodgers, pupils participated in "Digital Dilemma" discussions and ethical quizzes, learning how to spot AI-generated content and understand the biases that can sometimes appear in smart technology.
The day’s activities empowered pupils to:
- Question the content they see in their social feeds.
- Understand how voice assistants and chatbots use their data.
- Apply the school’s core values of RESPONSIBILITY, RESPECT, RESILIENCE, and RELATIONSHIPS to their digital lives.
By putting pupils at the heart of the conversation, Risedale is ensuring that the next generation isn't just using technology, but mastering it safely and respectfully.
