Our Year 9 pupils have been exploring the fascinating world of industrial art, channelling the spirit of the "Grandfather of Pop Art," Eduardo Paolozzi, to create a series of impressive ceramic sculptures.
Taking inspiration from Paolozzi’s signature "man-meets-machine" aesthetic, the pupils have been getting hands-on with clay to construct intricate robot faces. By working with clay slab tiles, they built up layers and relief textures, using stamping techniques and added slabs to transform flat surfaces into detailed, mechanical-style artworks.
Head of Art, Ms Westwood, was delighted with the results:
“The intricate relief surfaces the pupils made to create these unique mechanical textures were brilliant. It’s amazing to see how each pupil interpreted Paolozzi’s ‘man-meets-machine’ style in their own way, giving their robots such wonderful individual character and expression.”
Fantastic work, Year 9! The finished pieces are a real credit to your creativity. ✨
