Risedale School is turning up the volume on pupil achievement this term with the launch of an energetic new attendance rewards programme.
During this week’s assemblies, Senior Teacher Mrs Cox introduced pupils to a series of incentives designed to celebrate both commitment and progress. The programme is built around the school’s inspiring new motto: ⭐ "Be Here, Be Ready, Be Your BEST!" ⭐
Mrs Cox shared a clear message with the Risedale Family: every pupil has a chance to win. Whether a pupil maintains a perfect record or stages a significant personal turnaround, their efforts will be recognised and celebrated.
First Winners Announced: The Friday Breaktime Butty!
The rewards have already started rolling out, and the excitement is building! This week saw the announcement of the very first winners of the KS3 Friday Breaktime Butty raffle. To be eligible for this tasty prize, pupils had to achieve 100% attendance for the entire week.
A huge congratulations to Ava Clifton (8Dovaston) and Lorna Kuruvakadua (9Dunphy), who were two of our first lucky winners to enjoy a free breaktime treat! Will you be in the draw next week?

What’s Up for Grabs Next?
The reward calendar is packed with incentives running throughout January and February:
- Non-Uniform Days:
- Achieve 100% attendance from 12th–22nd January to earn a non-uniform day on 23rd January.
- Achieve 100% attendance from 23rd January–12th February for a second non-uniform day on 13th February.
- The Cinema Trip: A special trip awaits all pupils who maintain 100% attendance through to 13th February.
- The Big Raffle: Prizes up for grabs on 13th February.
- Mystery Pop-Ups: Pupils should stay alert! Mrs Davies (KS3) and Mrs Vizor (KS4) will be hosting surprise "pop-up" events across the school.
Celebrating the "Comeback"
Risedale is placing a heavy emphasis on improvement, not just perfection. The "Most Improved" category celebrates pupils making the biggest strides in their attendance habits.
Specifically for Year 8 and Year 11, an exclusive "1% Better" Raffle has been introduced. This is dedicated to pupils who are consistently boosting their attendance percentages, proving that small, steady changes lead to big rewards.
"We want every pupil to feel they can achieve these rewards," Mrs Cox explained during the assemblies. "Let’s make every day count and see our pupils shining this term!"
By focusing on the core values of RESPONSIBILITY, RESPECT, RESILIENCE, and RELATIONSHIPS, #TeamRisedale is committed to ensuring that every pupil understands that their presence in school is the first step toward being their BEST.
