GCSE PE Pupils Elevate Practical Scores with Rock Climbing Trip.

On Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th December, Risedale School's GCSE PE pupils were given the opportunity to visit ROF 59 in Newton Aycliffe to take part in an exhilarating intensive rock climbing course, with the aim of enhancing their practical skills and achieving academic excellence.

"We were thrilled to provide this enriching opportunity for our GCSE PE pupils," remarked Mr Lawson, Teacher of PE. "We recognise the significance of practical scores in their overall grades, and we wanted to empower them with the best possible chance of success."

This two-day intensive course encompassed a diverse range of climbing activities, including bouldering, top roping, and lead climbing. Simultaneously, pupils were meticulously instructed on safety protocols and risk assessment practices, fostering a culture of cautious yet adventurous exploration.

"The pupils wholeheartedly embraced this unique experience," expressed Mr Lawson. "Their enthusiasm and eagerness were palpable, leading to remarkable progress and skill development throughout the two days."

Beyond enhancing their practical performance, this rock climbing course also played a pivotal role in boosting pupils' confidence and teamwork abilities. By pushing their physical limits and collaborating effectively, they gained valuable lessons in resilience, perseverance, and effective communication.

The school extends its heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated instructors at ROF 59 for their support and guidance throughout the trip. Additionally, a special mention must go to Mrs Price, who enthusiastically accompanied the group and took the photographs.
