Risedale School buzzes with ambition as pupils engage with employers and education providers to plan their futures.
On Wednesday, 25th February, the Risedale School hall was transformed into a bustling hub of ambition as the school hosted its annual Careers Day. Welcoming a diverse range of local employers and education providers, the event offered pupils from Year 7 through to Year 11 a unique window into the professional world.
Engaging with the Experts
Equipped with curiosity, pupils navigated the stalls to learn exactly what makes different industries tick. The hall was alive with conversation as they challenged providers with insightful queries regarding the types of jobs available, the essential transferable skills needed for the modern workforce, and the various entry-level qualifications and apprenticeship routes on offer.
By engaging directly with professionals, pupils were able to look beyond job titles and understand the real-world progression paths available to them after they leave Risedale.
Reflecting on the Future
The learning continued back in the classroom, where pupils took part in structured discussion tasks to process their discoveries. They explored which companies sparked the most interest, identified "hidden" job roles they didn't expect to find, and discussed the various pathways available—including Apprenticeships, T-Levels, and Further or Higher Education.
"The event was about more than just looking at jobs; it was about opening doors and broadening horizons," said Careers Coordinator, Mrs Porritt. "Seeing our pupils engage so confidently with employers—asking about everything from transferable skills to career progression—shows just how ready they are to start thinking about their place in further education and the workforce. We want every pupil to leave feeling empowered about their future choices."
A Heartfelt Thank You
Risedale School would like to extend a massive thank you to all the employers and providers who took the time to inspire our pupils. Your expertise and willingness to share your professional journeys are invaluable in helping our pupils bridge the gap between the classroom and the career of their dreams.
