GCSE Results Day 2022

26/08/2022

Congratulations to the Class of 22 on their fantastic results!

We are delighted to announce that our Year 11 pupils will be leaving Risedale School with a fantastic set of GCSE results this summer. The students have worked incredibly hard alongside their teachers and families during worrying and disruptive times.

There was tension in the air as the pupils gathered with their parents to find out their results.

Mr Scott Headteacher commented:

‘I am so incredibly proud of this group of young people. Despite the learning from home, the uncertainty about examinations and the overall challenge of the pandemic, they have come through smiling with a set of results that really does justice to their resilience and hard work’

There were many exceptional results, with grades continuing to rise in many subjects. A number of pupils received grade 9s, testimony to their dedication and hard work, including in Mathematics, Art and French. What was also pleasing was the significant increase in the proportion of pupils achieving at least a grade 4 (equivalent to a grade C or higher) which has gone up by almost 10% since 2019. There has been a similar rise in the proportion of pupils receiving at least a grade 5 since 2019.

A number of pupils were brave enough to be filmed by the BBC opening their results and this included Ben Fulton who was delighted to score a well-deserved grade 9 in Mathematics, complemented by grade 8s in other subjects including Science, French, Geography and History. Kaitlyn Cooper was also really pleased to score grade 8s in French and Food preparation, also achieving grade 7s in English and History.
