Lazer Cheer Trio Represent Risedale and Team England, with Eva Langdale as Team Captain!

Local athletes from Lazer Cheer Academy are making a name for themselves on both the national and international cheerleading stage.

Team England Showcase

Three talented young cheerleaders, Lacey Hanson (10Dunphy), Sienna Hanson (8Lawson) and Eva Langdale (9Vizor) recently participated in a showcase event in London as part of the Team England Cheerleading Youth and Junior Squad.

Their coach, Chelsea Foreman, a former Risedale Teacher and Lazer Cheer Team Coach, shared her pride on social media: "Watching my girls from our small gym in Catterick perform for Team England was one of the proudest moments of my life. Yes, I cried happy tears knowing how much this means to them and how hard they've worked!"

'The Summit' World Cheerleading Championships

This weekend, 18 athletes from Lazer Cheer Academy are jetting off to Orlando, Florida, to compete at "The Summit," one of the most prestigious cheerleading competitions globally.  Teams qualified for the 2024 ICU World Cheerleading Championships through a rigorous bidding process within their home countries, making participation a significant achievement.

Lacey, Sienna, and Eva will once again represent Risedale School at "The Summit." Notably, Eva has been chosen as Team Captain, a true testament to her leadership skills and talent. Risedale's Head of PE, Miss Brierley, and Teacher of Design & Technology, Mrs Vizor, attended a special showcase on Thursday 18th April at Lazer Cheer to celebrate the team's accomplishments and wish them luck.

Miss Brierley commented, "The girls' talent is awe-inspiring. Their routines and athleticism are truly amazing. Their passion for cheerleading shines through, and the team is a powerhouse of energy and enthusiasm. We are incredibly proud of the entire squad, especially our Risedale representatives, Lacey, Sienna, and Eva."

Sienna’s Form Tutor Mr Lawson added, “They really are an inspiration to so many of our pupils, and young people everywhere. We are so proud of them and their success is no surprise due to the hard work and dedication they put in. Enjoy girls, you will be amazing!"

A Team Effort

We would also like to recognise Chloe Sharp, a former Risedale pupil and current coach at Lazer Cheer, for her contribution to the team's success, and of course the ever-fantastic Miss Foreman. Lazer Cheer is such an important part of the Risedale Family and our local community, it's wonderful to see the club doing so well.

A big thank you to Mrs Kathryn Hanson for the photos from the Team England showcase in London and to Mrs Brierley and Mrs Vizor for the photos at the showcase before the World Championships.
