​Charity Work and Fundraising:

As a school we do an amazing amount of fundraising and support for both local and national charities. Our students are keen to engage in many fundraising activities to help those less fortunate than themselves in our local and wider community.

​- So far this academic year (2019-2020) Risedale students and staff have raised £1267.13 for local and national charities -

​​​£172.00 raised for local charities and good causes - ​11th February 2020:

Valentine's Dance: Y7-9 students had a great time at the Valentine's Dance on 11th February. We raised £172.00 for charity. Thank you to all the staff who supervised the event and to those who helped decorating the hall beforehand 🎈. A big thank you to The Student Council and Mrs Hailwood for organising the event as well as our fantastic DJ, Mr Tivinan 🐼. It was lovely to see the kids having such a fun time!

Cake Sale: Risedale students Jessica Hamilton, Chloe Sharp and Ella-Mae Harton raised ⭐️£114.32⭐️ for their forthcoming trip to Atlanta, Georgia where they'll compete in one of the biggest cheerleading competitions in the USA alongside their squad from Lazer Cheer Academy. Well done and good luck!

Christmas Jumper Day: On Friday 20th December students and staff held a Christmas Jumper Day raising money for Save the Children.

​£425.43 rasied for ​Children in Need - ​17th Decemcer 2019:

Christmas Fair Total.jpgOur Christmas Fair raised an amazing total of ⭐️£425.43⭐️ for BBC Children in Need. Thank you to all at Risedale Sports and Community College who gave up their time to organise a stall and plan for the fair and also to everyone who came and supported the evening.

£265.34 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support - 27th September 2019:

A big thank-you to all the students/parents/carers who baked such delicious cakes for the students to sell and to everyone that made a donation and enjoyed them. There was a lovely atmosphere in room 6 as pupils queued to buy their cakes and raffle tickets to support Macmillan.

​- During the 2018-2019 academic year Risedale raised an amazing total of £4,784.44 for local and national charities -

​£504 raised for Wooden Spoon; The Children's Charity of Rugby - 19th July 2019:

Wooden Spoon.jpgFollowing England International Rugby player Tamara Taylor's visit to Risedale in March 2019 it was decided that we would hold a non-uniform day to raise funds for Wooden Spoon; The Children's Charity of Rugby and we raised £500!

"By getting involved, together we can change children’s lives through the power of  rugby."

It was a brilliant day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Fantastic weather, great company and many happy memories made. Well done everyone we raised a fantastic total of £3785.66!!! #TeamRisedale.

​In 2018 Risedale raised an amazing total of £881.33 for Journey with Joshua and received this certificate signed by Joshua himself!

Non-Uniform Day in July ​raised

Fashion Show 2018 Poster (2) (800x566).jpgCharity Fashion Show: Students and staff strutted their stuff on Wednesday 28th November modelling clothes by F&F at Tesco (Tesco Catterick Garrison community) raising money for 'Journey With Joshua' an organisation which supports a local boy, Joshua Jessop, who in 2010 was diagnosed with the fatal muscle wasting disease Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).

A special thank you goes to Tillie Done, Emily Beadle, Abigail Smith, Bradley Best, and of course Mrs Townsend, for running the student and staff cake sales. An extra big thank you also goes to all the parents/carers/students that donated and made cakes - we had an absolute feast for Macmillan this year!

​- During the 2017-2018 academic year Risedale raised an amazing total of £11,033.98 for local and national charities -

Joshua's Mum, Karen Jessop said: "Oh wow! Thank you so much and please send our best wishes to everyone who took the time to dress down today. The funds raised will go towards a private meeting with Santa, a husky ride and meeting the reindeer which is on Joshua’s list of things to do there. Hoping everyone has a fantastic summer break. Looking forward to our Fashion Show fundraiser in November!"

​£2,900.00 raised for Risedale's DofE Group - 13th July 2018:

DofE-Logo-2008.pngP1000423.JPGA very big thank-you goes to the Rotary Club of Richmond, N. Yorks who donated £2,900.00 by raising money from a variety of fundraising activities to support our DofE students.

Parent/carer said: "Thank you to all the staff for giving up their own time to support the students and giving them the chance to develop their skills. My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed both her bronze and silver awards. Well done to you all."

Parent/carer said: "My son was in the first group to start DofE through Risedale. It has been amazing to watch a small group of students grow with confidence and knowledge and now that they have almost completed their silver award it’s great to see, that with the enthusiasm from both students and staff, more pupils are taking on this amazing opportunity. A massive thank you to all at Risedale x."

Event organiser Associate Assistant Principal, Mrs Hailwood, said: "It was an amazing day! I was so proud of all the kids and the staff. It was a very warm day and a real challenge for some of those taking part but that’s why I’m so pleased we did it; everyone tried their absolute best and we all made it round the course. A big thank-you to Mr Thomson for marking out the route, to the Army for all their help and allowing us to use the training area for the day, but mostly to our fantastic students who made the day so much fun and raised the incredible total of £5,641.10."

£450.55 raised for Sport Relief​ - March 2018:

Sport Relief 2018.JPGSponsored Skipping and Cycling: Students at Risedale raised £450.55 for Sport Relief from competing in sponsored events during their lunchtimes and PE lessons.

​£28.80 raised for World Book Day​ - 1st March 2018:

Mrs Townsend said: "Our students are very supportive when it comes to raising money for charity. I am extremely proud to be part of the Risedale team where both staff and students really do work as a 'community' when it comes to supporting charities."

​£300.00 raised for Help for Heroes - ​22nd December 2017:

Help for Heroes.jpgHelp for Heroes Dec 2017.jpgChristmas Jumper Day: On Friday 22nd December Risedale students and staff raised a total of £300.00 for Help for Heroes Official - Phoenix House Personnel Recovery Centre, Catterick Garrison by holding a Christmas Jumper Day.

£820.50 rasied for ​Children in Need - ​November 2017:

Children in Need.pngChildren in need - Thank you Cert 2018-page-001.jpgNon-Uniform Day and Children in Need Fair: Students were able to wear non-uniform and join in with the annual Risedale Children in Need Fair. The fair was held during lunchtime with stalls, games, cakes sales and prizes galore. The students particularly enjoyed the ‘duct tape challenge’ and ‘pogo competition’. A big thank-you to Associate Assistant Principal, Mrs Hailwood and her Student Council Team for all their hard work. Special mentions and thanks go to Emily Beadle (10 Campbell) for organising prize donations from Tesco and Empire Cinemas, Catterick Garrison and to Phoebe Harvey (8 Westwood) for selling the majority of the raffle tickets during lunch times.

 

​£238.25 raised for ​​Macmillan Cancer Support - 29th September 2017:

Mrs Townsend said: "Thank you very much for all the wonderful cakes baked and bought today. Students and staff raised a grand total of £238.25!!!!!! We have a great team here at Risedale who always go all out with their cakes and donations for the Macmillan Coffee morning every year!"

Everyone at Risedale would like to thank Mrs Townsend for all her hard work & enthusiasm making this a special day for all of us.

red-nose-day-2017.jpgred Nose Day 2017.jpgComic Relief / Red Nose Day: Risedale students and staff raised an amazing total of £871.96 for Red Nose Day on Friday 24th March from a variety of sponsored events and charitable collections including a Non-Uniform Day and 'Cake at Break' sale. Thank-you to everyone that supported the day and a special mention must go to Emily Beadle (9 Brook) and Cerys Cox (10 Dodsworth) who raised £250.00 for RND by swimming 100 lengths at Catterick Garrison Leisure Centre.

Risedale Principal, Colin Scott said: "Our students thoroughly enjoyed the day and were a credit to the school! We are all so proud to see them working so hard for their local community, giving up their own time and thinking of others."

NB: St. John's Community Centre is now known as The Bridge.

The fair was held during lunchtime with stalls, games, cakes sales and prizes galore. Risedale's Principal, Colin Scott, was a great sport allowing students to throw soaking wet sponges at him for any donations they could offer.
